Megan, an empathetic member of the Optimum Intake Aged Care Team, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as a dietitian. She provides compassionate, evidenced-based nutrition care to individuals living independently at home and in Residential Aged Care Facilities.
In the community setting, Megan understands the unique challenges faced by older adults in maintaining their nutritional needs within the home environment. She collaborates with her clients and their families, taking the time to get to know them, their lifestyle, and their goals. Megan recognizes that food is not just about nutrients; it plays a vital role in enhancing a person’s quality of life. Therefore, she integrates this philosophy into her practice, focusing on the enjoyment of food and the social aspects of eating.
In addition to her work in the community, Megan supports individual consumers by providing education and guidance on proper nutrition for managing chronic diseases such as diabetes. She helps her clients understand the relationship between diet and their specific health conditions, empowering them to make informed choices.
Megan also plays an important role in collaborating with clinical care teams and food service staff within Residential Aged Care Facilities. She ensures that the meals served in these facilities are nutritionally balanced, appealing, and meet the specific dietary needs of each resident. Megan works with the food service team to create a dining experience that promotes enjoyment, social interaction, and overall satisfaction among the residents.
Megan holds the title of Accredited Practising Dietitian and is a member of Dietitians Australia. She completed her Master of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Wollongong and joined the Optimum Intake team in 2023. Outside of work, Megan enjoys playing soccer, traveling, and cooking, which further fuels her passion for food and nutrition.
With her diverse skill set and dedication to the well-being of older populations, Megan looks forward to building positive relationships with individuals in the local community and within Residential Aged Care Facilities. She is committed to achieving optimal health outcomes for her clients, ensuring that their nutritional needs are met, and enhancing their overall quality of life.
